For some reason the IRS has been requesting information about our itemized deductions. We got the first letter in early November, and Dave sent them copies of all our receipts. Today we got a notice that they were disallowing our deductions and billing us $LARGE for unpaid taxes, penalties and interest. I called them and they never received what we sent them. If they send us mail and give us an address to send correspondence to, why don’t they receive and record it in a timely manner? The agent we spoke with suggested we fax the documents to the fax number on the letter, and to be sure to put the primary SSN on each sheet. So I gathered up the receipts and faxed 27 pages to the phone number in question. We’ll see how that goes.
